AW25 trend predictions. 8 new stylish looks to try

original article

From winter boho to soothing textures and ’70s shades, discover the trends set to rule this season.

Following our trend predictions in April, we spent spring and summer wrapped in the softest butter yellow, performance-inspired vis-tech sneakers, and girly aesthetics. Now, we’re back with eight new runway trends that are worth obsessing over, and we’re sure will dominate the street during the cooler months.

Texture theory

Expect your wardrobe to become extra soft this season, as fluffy fashion is taking over. Faux fur has been spotted everywhere from Chloé’s boho collection to Prada’s take on modern dressing. While it’s ubiquitous, we’re seeing it in all shapes, textures, and sizes, which means there are multiple levels to approaching it.
If you’re a rookie, start small and add accessories like gloves or a bag. Then work your way up the faux-fur hierarchy with a skirt, a jacket, and finally — the ultimate indulgence — a long furry coat. No matter the level, it’s irresistibly soothing…and occasionally begs to be stroked.

’70s pop of colour

Each season, a colour palette sets the mood. For SS25, we glazed into the sunsets with butter yellow and Sabrina Carpenter pink. This season, we’re grooving back to the ’70s, a decade of disco, rock bands, flared pants, and, of course, unforgettable shades. And no, we’re not talking about mustard yellow.
Rich cherry reds, spotted at Calvin Klein and Eckhaus Latta, will shine bright against the grey autumn sky, while deep browns add a cosy layer of warmth. For accents with impact, take cues from Gucci and slip on lilac accessories for an extra pop of colour. If you’re just learning how to let go of blacks and greys, don’t dive in all at once. Start with earthy tones as your base and gradually bring in brighter shades.

Winter boho

It’s been a year since we first called boho’s big return. And boy, did it return. Flowy dresses, stacked bangles, romantic blouses, and flared jeans have been everywhere — and they’re not going anywhere this season. If anything, expect more: Prints spreading across denim, silk, and cotton; leather accented with fringes; oversized sunnies; jewellery you can see and hear from a mile away. So the question isn’t if you’re wearing it, but how. As the temperatures drop, boho shifts with the weather. Think layered silhouettes and big boots hidden under sweeping flares.

Demure dressing

If fashion trends were sounds, demure dressing would be a soft whisper. Barely audible, yet unmistakably clear, like the teacher shushing a row of students mid-concert. This trend marks the return of pencil skirts paired with slim blazers, soft tights, and high necks, arriving in pretty much the same way. Quiet at first, led by Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu girls, then suddenly everywhere for AW25, from Calvin Klein to Fendi and Gucci. It’s a modern take on ladylike elegance, with a hint of mischief.
And for menswear? It’s tailored suits, soft knits, leather bags tucked under one arm, and shoes that clack in perfect rhythm with a practiced walk.

Elevated indie

What do you do when you’re still grieving Hedi Slimane’s Celine era? You squeeze back into black skinny jeans, slide into Chelsea boots, throw on a leather jacket, and keep the Indie spirit alive, like any true Hedi boy would. In a year steeped in nostalgia (Britpop’s big revival and the return of the messy Tumblr girl aesthetic), it’s only natural that slim silhouettes, striped long-sleeve tees, and slouchy beanies are back on the moodboard. The biggest difference? The AW25 version comes polished: Oversized leather bags, silky scarves, and tailored pants take the look out of ‘tween indie frontman’ territory and closer to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Let your top do the talking

Whether it’s the latest catchphrase, a bold statement, your favourite club’s logo, or just a silly joke, this season, your top does the talking. Think of it as the ultimate conversation starter, saving you from pretending to be busy on your phone when in reality you’re just endlessly opening and closing the weather app.
Some of us need a little help breaking the ice and evidently, our favourite designers got the memo, and the proof is on the runways, from Dior to Moschino and Collina Strada. Now that we’re spoiled with choices, it takes knowing yourself to pick the message that feels most true to you. So before you buy, start with some serious self-reflection.

Chaotic customisation

In a world of micro trends and perfectly curated feeds, some say, it’s time to revisit your 13-year-old self to figure out what you really love. And perhaps that’s true. At least, it explains why we ended up adding plush monsters to our bags and neon laces to our sneakers.
But ‘chaotic customisation’, is more than just bag charms and laces. In AW25, it’s about rediscovering creativity in your wardrobe, layering, adding, and mixing elements to reflect your personality. Think big pearl necklaces and brooches, multiple scarves, clashing colours, textures, and patterns, or socks that catch the eye. If you have to explain your outfit, that’s part of the fun.

Supreme comfort

We’re weather-proofing the summer’s unexpected style icon, Adam Sandler, by introducing swaggy fits for AW25. As temperatures drop, sweatpants replace baggy basketball shorts, and extra-large tees are replaced by oversized knitwear you can practically nap in. Add big puffers, zip-up fleeces, and loose coats for supreme comfort, topping it off with a big scarf and cosy footwear that feels like a bed under your feet.
